Joseph Smith Jr., 76, of Warwick, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was the loving husband of Cynthia L (Simeone) Smith with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He was born in Providence and raised in Cranston by the late Joseph Smith and Lucy (Emilio) Smith.

He lived a full life, which included being an Army Veteran, college graduate, business owner, accountant, Controller and CEO of multiple companies, Secret Superhero but most importantly, a great friend and devoted family man. He loved to entertain at his home, a good party, cookouts, dining out, and being surrounded by family and friends. He was incredibly generous to all that knew him and always looked for the good in people. He spent most of his life in shirts and ties for work but on weekends, it was a tool belt, grilling, swimming, golfing, gun range, time with family and friends, and anything he deemed “fun” because that’s what he said life should be about.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter Melissa Smith and her husband Ray Lavin, son Joseph Smith and his wife Wendy (Graves) Smith. He was “Papa” to five grandchildren: Amanda Reid, Emily Reid, Benjamin Smith, Jacob Smith, Brayden Smith, and one great grandchild, Zoey Smith. He was the brother to Robert Smith and his wife, Veronica Smith, and uncle to Joseph and Robert Smith.

Due to an illness in the family, there will be no funeral services at this time. We will plan for services and a Celebration of Life in the coming months.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street., Providence, RI 02904.
